The thermostat and weather control app on my phone says that it’s almost 90 degrees outside; You would never guess that by looking at me, though! I am huddled over my desk wrapped up in a large black overcoat, plus my teeth are chattering.

I don’t understand why it is always so cold in this office, but it is. I am going to bring in a ladder to climb up so I can stick some kind of cloth in the cooling system air vents to block the cold air from blowing right down on my head! I work in the office every other day now, but when I was working from home every day, it was so much nicer. The cooling system temperature control was on the setting I love the most, which is 70 degrees. It was always 70 degrees in the house! The cooling system here is set to the same temperature, but for whatever reason, the cooling system is on constantly and it’s always blowing right on me. I guess one reason is that there is just one Heating, Ventilation and A/C unit for two separate offices in the building – my office and the office of the guy who works across the hallway. Occasionally, I even try turning the whole cooling system method to the off position, but the stupid cooling system keeps right on blowing! Not only is it uncomfortable, but it is a waste of energy in my book. We really don’t spend money extra for the electricity, as the utilities are included in the rent, however I still don’t prefer to waste energy. It’s very bad for the environment. It’s especially bad for my immediate environment because I am so cold from the A/C all the time.

Back when I was still working at home each day, it was nice because the air conditioner temperature control was on the setting that I liked the best – 72 degrees, and it was already 72 degrees in the house… The air conditioner here is set to the same temperature. But for some reason, the A/C at work is always blowing right on me. I know that one issue is the fact that there’s only one Heating plus A/C machine for two different offices in the building. My office and another one across the hall from me. On some days, I even turn the whole air conditioning off but then the stupid air conditioner keeps on blowing! And not only is it uncomfortable, but I think that it’s a complete waste of energy. Both of us don’t pay extra for the electricity, since all of the utilities are included in the rent. I still don’t like wasting energy though, because it’s terrible for the environment. And I think that it’s especially terrible for my immediate environment because I am freezing to death from the air conditioner!

I was pretty shocked about it.

It would never occur to me to try and repair my own air conditioner; When I asked her about it, she said that doing it yourself is what happens when you don’t have a bunch of extra cash lying around. That’s when you try to repair your own a/c! Anyway, she was able to do it, and she didn’t even get help from her husband, either. I think he is basically useless. She did online research by putting in the symptoms that were happening with her A/C. An HVAC website came right up and it led her to an online video that explained what the problem was plus exactly how to repair it. There was even a link to order the A/C parts that she needed from an online HVAC retailer. So, she ordered the a/c part, paid for overnight shipping, and then she got to work doing the a/c repair the very next day. She said it was actually fairly simple. She just watched the video once and then she turned it back on to watch while she did the a/c repair step by step. She paused the video as she went along, and at first, I was just flabbergasted. Now I’m starting to think that the very next time my a/c stops working, I am going to have to try a DIY a/c repair myself. I will put the “symptoms” into the a/c repair website, and then depending on what it says, I will decide whether it is something I should try. If all that it entails is changing out one part for another one, then I should be able to do it myself!
