Dad would rather go to the hardware store.

I don’t know exactly how my parents survive on their own.

Just like everyone their age, they’re stuck in their ways and they don’t really care to evolve with the times. It gets frustrating when I try to explain something to them, but they immediately tune me out because they aren’t willing to learn something new. My dad typically likes to tell me, “why fix what isn’t broken?” I understand his philosophy, but occasionally there’s a better option available, you just have to try! The last fight I had with my dad was about his heating and A/C system. It started when he told me about his heating and A/C service appointment and how the heating and A/C professional wasn’t able to replace their air filter because of the virus. I thought it was a little weird that he wouldn’t touch the air filter, although I didn’t say anything about it. Instead, I asked my dad if I could help him order a package of air filters online. He abruptly refused and told me that he’d go buy some from the hardware store at the end of the week. I tried explaining to him that I could order the exact air filters he used online and they’d be shipped to his address in 2 business days, and he wouldn’t even entertain the idea. This caused a fight between us, because I couldn’t know how stubborn he was being. I still don’t understand why he wouldn’t let me help him order the air filters online, knowing they’d be here quicker! It would save him time too!

My parents are resistant to change.

I don’t know just how my parents survive on their own.

Like most people their age, they’re stuck in their ways and they don’t want to evolve with the times.

It gets really frustrating when I try to explain something to them and they instantly tune me out because they aren’t willing to learn something new. My dad likes to say, “why fix what isn’t broken?” I understand his philosophy, however occasionally there’s a better option available, you just have to try! The last argument I had with our dad was about his HVAC system. It started when he told me about his HVAC appointment plus how the HVAC professional wasn’t able to replace their air filter because of the virus. I thought it was a little weird that he wouldn’t touch the air filter, but I didn’t say anything about it. Instead, I asked my dad if I could help him order a six pack of air filters online. He abruptly refused, then told me that he’d go buy some from the hardware store at the end of the week. I tried explaining to him that I could order the exact air filters he used online plus they’d be shipped to his house the next day, but he wouldn’t even entertain the idea. This caused an argument between us, because I couldn’t believe just how stubborn he was being. I still don’t understand why he wouldn’t let me help him order the air filters online, knowing they’d be here quicker! It would save him time too!

I’m trying to get Dad to order his air filters online.

I don’t have a clue how my parents survive on their own.

Like almost all the people their age, I guess they’re stuck in their ways and they don’t care to evolve with the times; It gets absolutely frustrating when I try to explain something to them and they just tune me out because they aren’t willing to learn something new.

They regularly like to tell me, “why fix what isn’t broken?” I understand their philosophy, however periodically there’s a better option available, you just have to try! The last argument I had with my father was about his heating and A/C system. It started when he told me about his HVAC service appointment as well as how the HVAC technician wasn’t able to change out their air filter because of the virus. I thought it was a little odd that he wouldn’t touch the air filter, but I didn’t say anything about it. Instead, I asked my father if I could help him order a pack of air filters online, and he quickly refused as well as told me that he’d go buy some from the hardware store at the end of the week. I tried explaining to him that I could order the exact air filters he used online and they’d be shipped to his house in days, however he wouldn’t even entertain the idea; This caused an argument between us, because I couldn’t fathom how stubborn he was being. I still don’t understand why he wouldn’t let me help him order the air filters online, knowing they’d be here quicker! It would save him time too!

Dad can be so stubborn.

I don’t think how our parents survive on their own! Like pretty much everyone their age, I believe they’re stuck in their ways plus they aren’t willing to evolve with the times.

It gets particularly frustrating when I try to explain something to them, but they instantly tune me out because they aren’t willing to learn something new.

This caused a fight between us, because I could not understand how stubborn he was being. My Dad Doesn’t Like To Try New Things

Grandma’s house was cold, but I didn’t want to turn up her heat.

My Grandma just spent a lot of money adding a sunroom off the back of her house; It spans the entire backside and has a large, flat screen television on one wall; There’s a big table for family celebrations and multiple rocking chairs and porch swings. It’s become our number one spot to spend time as a family, especially on game days. Last weekend, my Grandma went out of town, however my husband and I still wanted to watch the football game in her sunroom. Like both of us expected, she agreed to let us come over with a few friends to relax and hang out. But when we got there, her place was ice cold! Before she left on her trip, she turned down her furnace in order to save money. There was no point in keeping her place warm when she wasn’t going to be there. I didn’t wear any socks to her house, and all the heat was escaping through my feet. No matter what I did, I could not get warm. I contemplated turning up Grandma’s furnace, knowing she wouldn’t mind, however I thought it was too intrusive. One of my greatest pet peeves is when people change the control unit settings in someone else’s home, so I wasn’t about to break my own rule! As a last resort, I went into her closet and found some fluffy, cozy socks to borrow. Once I put them on, I began to warm up internally again. I couldn’t bring myself to turn up Grandma’s furnace, but I had absolutely no problem borrowing a pair of her socks.

I Didn’t Want to Change Her Thermostat Settings

Once I put them on, I began to warm up internally again

My grandmother just spent a fortune adding a screened in porch off the back of her house. It spans the entire backside and has a large, stone fireplace on one end. There’s a large table for family gatherings and several rocking chairs and porch swings. It’s become our favorite spot to spend time as a family, especially on football gamedays.
