Whenever I visit the wellness center, I end up feeling so much better. I discovered this wellness center when I was searching for a gym with a yoga studio. I followed the GPS directions and was surprised when I found a venue that looks far different than the average gym. The wellness center offers weight lifting machines and workout equipment. It also features meditation rooms, spa facilities, personal training, nutritionists and massages. It’s about spiritual wellness as well as physical improvement. It goes above and beyond the average gym. The emphasis is on mind, body, and spirit. Most gyms are strictly concerned with the physical aspects of the body. This wasn’t what I was initially looking for. I went in and took a look around. I was so impressed that I signed up for a yoga class. They offer multiple yoga classes. It was easy to find one that fit into my schedule. That was a couple of years ago. I now participate in yoga classes every morning before work. I typically return to the wellness center after work a few days a week in order to decompress a little bit. I use the meditation rooms and sometimes get a massage. It is convenient that the wellness center is on the way home. It’s easy to utilize all the amenities at the wellness center. I would still drive to the wellness center, even if it was an hour out of my way. The wellness center has made such an improvement in my health, mood and quality of life that I’d find a way to get there.

They said that they typically work with people recovering from surgeries or injuries but that they were happy to adjust the training program for my son

All parents are delighted when their kids are inclined to follow in their footsteps. But when my son Mike expressed an interest in going to the gym regularly, I knew we might have an issue. I work out at least 5 day a week. I’m not in ideal shape or anything like that. I workout to keep in decent shape. I have been working out regularly for years and I feel good about my weight and level of fitness. I have found that going to the gym keeps me in a better mental space. My gym allows children as young as 12 to join. They simply need to have an adult with them. That’s not the concern. The problem is that Mike was born with spina bifida. He relies on crutches to get around. I wasn’t sure how the gym would be able to accommodate his disability. My husband and I have never treated Mike any differently from our other kids. I promised him I would inquire at the gym and see if they provide any classes for people who are disabled. I found out that my gym offers several classes for physical training targeted at those who have suffered injuries. The classes are run by certified professional trainers who are trained and knowledgeable in what they are doing. They said that they typically work with people recovering from surgeries or injuries but that they were happy to adjust the training program for my son. I explained that Mike wants to be treated like anyone else. On Saturdays, I take mike to the gym with me. He absolutely loves it and we’ve seen an increase in his strength and range of motion.

Equestrian competitor can benefit from time at the gym

I compete in different types of horse jumping events.

My thoroughbred and I have won medals in a few national competitions. I have noticed that the more time I dedicate at the gym, the better I do in practice and at the arena. The majority of people who show horses do not realize they could benefit from going to the gym. You actually get a strenuous workout on the back of a horse. However, your form, strength and stamina can be improved by doing some core and thigh strength training. Whenever I head to the gym, I devote the majority of my time to the thigh machine. I realize that my core strength is important to horseback riding as well. Because of this, I also introduce a lot of inverted push ups and exercises that incorporate my core. I’m sure my thoroughbred appreciates my time at the gym. I could be doing a lot of these exercises on her back. Instead, she gets a greak. I get a great workout. I heard that some gyms have included a fake horseback riding machine. It’s basically a pretend horse that runs and jumps and connects to a screen. I’d be really interested in trying something like that. It would allow me to simulate my horsemanship and make adjustments outside my time at the stables. My gym doesn’t include that kind of component just yet. They offer basic weight lifting equipment. They also include yoga and spin classes that are really beneficial. I enjoy my time at the gym because it helps my horseback riding efforts and keeps me fit and healthy.

My daughter Amy joined the track team at school.

  • She said this was not enough exercise for her.

She asked for a membership to the local fitness center. Amy is determined to get in better shape so that her times will improve at track. Amy is especially interested in the training methods targeted at speed and stamina. I didn’t realize there were so many diverse training methods. I thought she would simply need to practice running to trim her times. I realize that there is weightlifting for people who want to build muscle. I’ve learned that training for a specific sport is not that simple. There’s continuous training, intermediate training and training where you only provide short bursts of energy. I have learned that each type of exercise program targets different benefits. My daughter is trying to determine which style of training works best for her current goals. She tried the continuous training for a couple of weeks. That meant she ran every single day. However, when she participated in a race, she found that her speed was not what it should be. She believed her body started to burn out a bit. Now she’s trying intermediate training and only running three days a week. She got better results with her last race. But the results weren’t satisfactory. Amy didn’t win so now she’s checking out other training methods for runners. I am not convinced it has as much to do with the training methods as her dedication to pushing herself. Plus, some people are simply built to run faster. I don’t think Amy will ever set speed records. However, she is keeping herself fit and healthy and that’s what’s important.

Personal trainer helps with injury recovery

I’ve never been all that eager to go to the gym. I usually just go for a run in the afternoon or for a bike ride in the evening. I prefer to workout outdoors. However, following my knee surgery, I found it very difficult to get back into jogging or biking. My knee ached all of the time. My doctor suggested that I try physical therapy. The physical therapy sessions were too expensive, even with my insurance coverage. I was stuck paying around $70 per visit when all they did was have me do a few basic exercises with my legs. A friend of mine said that I should consider joining her gym. She said that they offer personal trainers who set up personalized workout plans for each client. I believed that the personal trainers might not be knowledgeable enough to deal with the impact of my injury. I was concerned about getting hurt. However, I decided to try it out. After all, the annual gym membership was about the same price as a month at the physical. I was comfortable with the personal trainer as soon as I met her. She was super aware of the muscle groups involved with my knee problems. I brought along the workout plan that my physical therapist had provided me. The personal trainer explained that I was doing some of the exercises incorrectly. She showed me how I could do a variety of exercises and take advantage of the gym equipment. I started working out at the gym several times per week with the guidance of the personal trainer. It took me a few weeks before I saw an improvement in my ability to start biking and running again. I feel stronger than ever and have very little pain.

Yoga is a lot more demanding than I thought it was

My best friend always returns home from her yoga classes sweaty and exhausted. I told her that yoga is not a real form of strenuous exercise. It’s simply meditation. She got aggravated, and insisted that I join her at the yoga studio on the following Saturday. I agreed to go to yoga class. I lift weights and workout regularly on the stationary bicycle. I figured that a little bit of meditation would be good for me. I had no clue what I was getting into. I couldn’t manage most of the poses that the yoga class was performing. I tried to keep up with all the holds and balance exercises. About twenty minutes into the class, my muscles were trembling and I was drenched in sweat. I endured 40 more minutes of this exertion before the class finally ended. It was then that my best friend admitted that this was an advanced yoga class. She had completed three other lower lower level yoga classes before getting to this class. I realize she tricked me a bit but I am also aware that I deserve it. I did claim yoga was not exercise. Clearly, it is more of a workout than I understood! I got a very strenuous workout during that yoga class. It was equally as demanding as what I usually do in the gym. I have muscles that are sore right now due to yoga. I’m convinced that yoga is one of the better exercise programs out there. I am thinking of adding a yoga class to my regular exercise routine. I believe that my gym offers yoga classes at various times throughout the week. I am hesitant to spend money to participate in my best friend’s yoga class when I’m already paying for a gym membership.

I signed up for a gym membership mainly because of the weightlifting machines.

I have always been a smaller person.

I have weighed around 140 pounds my whole life. I’ve been on the thin side and looked like I was starving to death. I had almost no muscle tone. I had the physique of a kid before puberty set in. I finally got disgusted with looking so weak and young. I decided to do something proactive to fix it. When I signed up for a gym membership, I was thrilled with the membership rewards that came along with it. I was excited by the discount at the supplement store. I can now buy my protein powder at about a 20% discount. That’s a significant savings for me. I am all about protein powder. The gym membership just about pays for itself in savings on my regular purchases. I have also taken advantage of the gym’s semi-private fitness classes. The fitness trainer is really knowledgeable and has taught me how to use the gym equipment properly not to injure myself. I was surprised at my improvement after only one month of going to the gym regularly. Of course, I spent several hours at the gym 4 to 5 days a week. I want to get the most out of that gym membership. When I first started, I planned on canceling the membership after the first month. I figured I’d end up buying some type of exercise equipment for my home. However, with the membership rewards, it’s not worth the cost of gym equipment. I do not think I’d be saving any money by doing this. I’m going to continue with the gym membership. After all, I have access to all of the different types of workout machines. There’s no way I would be able to afford to have so many machines at home.

My gym transformation has been a gradual process

My family and friends have been impressed with my gym transformation.

A couple of years ago I was significantly overweight and rather depressed.

I have lost a tone of fat and trimmed inches off my waist line. I’ve gained a great deal of muscle and toned my whole body. I look so much better. More importantly, I feel a lot better. I now have more confidence. I have tried a lot of different diet plans and given up. I’ve finally found something that works. With the fad diet plans, the weight would come back within a couple of weeks. I always ended up going back to my former eating habits. Once I joined my local gym, I discovered that they provide nutritional counseling and I decided to try it. I was not expecting it to work out for me. But I have had success. The nutritional counselor was part of the wellness program included with my gym membership. I ended up sticking with the nutritional program because of how I felt during my workouts. I was determined to better fuel my body to create a new and healthier me. I just love the whole wellness program. It targets a complete body fitness, not just isolating specific muscle groups. I have been following the same program for a couple of years now. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t had a few setbacks along the way. There were times when I gained a little weight back when I had hopes of gaining ground. I’ve discovered that’s normal during the fitness process. I haven’t let the setbacks discourage me and I’ve steadily achieved my goals.

For the sake of privacy, appearance plus the safety of our kids plus pet, our partner and I really wanted to build a fence around our property, and blessedly, our yard isn’t perfectly flat, but there are slopes to deal with; All of us like the contours of the yard due to the fact that they add to the visual appeal but weren’t sure how to go about adding a fence, and one option was to follow the uneven terrain, keeping the horizontal rails of the fence parallel to the ground rather than level, however, this system works best when the slope is slight rather than drastic like ours. We eventually chose a stepped fence where each panel is a little higher or lower than the next, creating an appearance that mimics a set of stairs. All of us were able to create a stepped fence by purchasing pre assembled panels, and every single post needed to be individually measured plus split to accommodate the strange heights of each panel. All of us installed the fence so that each panel is even plus level. This left gaps underneath the panels that weren’t consistent. The gaps were a problem because of the chance of the pet or the kids crawling under. We really didn’t like the aesthetics of the gaps, so the two of us installed planters along the bottom.
