Hired to manage an office building and it's a nightmare

I’ve been out of work for the past five years, so I wasn’t picky looking for a job.

When the employment agency called me with an opportunity, I drove down to the office and met with them immediately.

The owner of a large office building was looking for a building manager. I have had extensive experience with apartment building management, but not much with office building management. I figured it would be the same, and the owner of the office building was happy with my experience. I started working in the office building three weeks ago, and it’s been one nightmare after another. I totally and completely understand why the building owner didn’t want to deal with any of the clients. There are tons of problems throughout the building, including issues with the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. We have constant problems with hot and cold spots throughout the offices. Last week, half of the toilets on the second floor weren’t working. The office building tenants are fed up with the problems, and I can see why. Unfortunately, I can’t offer them much help. The office building manager doesn’t want to spend a fortune to renovate the place, so the problems aren’t going to get any better. I mentioned some preventive maintenance would really help the office building, but the owner wants to fix things as they break. It’s really no wonder why all of the tenants are angry, aggravated, and threatening to break their lease and leave the building. My office is on the third floor, and I take the stairs. I’m afraid of the rickety elevator.
