My husband is a bargain hunter and a bargain shopper. He tries to save money every chance that he gets, which is a good thing. I like the way that he tries to save us money most of the time, but sometimes it gets on my nerves. One of the things that he tries to save money on the most is our heating and cooling bills. I understand that he wants to save money, but I really don’t think that it should be at the detriment of our HVAC system. He likes to wait until the last minute to get anything worked on if the furnace or the air conditioning starts to tear up. I don’t like waiting until the last minute to get our HVAC system worked on, personally. I am the kind of person who likes to have insurance on most things. Our HVAC system doesn’t have any warranty on it, and we also don’t have a maintenance plan set up with our local heating and cooling company, either. I always thought that having a quarterly HVAC maintenance program would make a lot of sense to take care of our furnace and A/C unit, but my husband doesn’t seem to want to spend the money on a regular basis. It seems like he would rather wait until we have a very expensive repair to do on the HVAC system before he spends any money on it. I think that it would be cheaper in the long run to pay for the maintenance plan, but of course my husband doesn’t have the same line of thinking!
