By regularly cleaning the fireplace, you will prevent debris from clogging it, as well as extend its life. The fact that my dad decided to use his fireplace forced us to sit in the kitchen and tell old stories and bond because it forced us to talk. Maybe the next beach house I purchase will have a fireplace as well, so I can lay by it with my future wife and kids.
