Wood burning stove is the cherry on top

Grandpa and I have been talking about getting a hunting cabin for years.

  • I was beginning to think it was never going to happen but then he bought this property.

Together we researched cabins before settling on a prefab cabin. It’s really inexpensive and the company comes out and puts it together for you and everything. Of course, the cabin we selected is the cheapest of the cheap. It doesn’t have electricity or plumbing or anything like that. There’s no need for it. There are no hookups out here after all. I dug the latrine myself and Grandpa bought a wood-burning stove to keep us warm on cold nights. It’s just like living in the old days. We go out and hunt and then come home and cook dinner over a wood-burning stove and then keep the stove burning all night to stay warm. I really don’t mind chopping the wood either. It is good exercise and it just adds to the experience. We’ve only been using the cabin one season now but I already don’t want to leave. I want to make this our permanent home. Just me and Grandpa out here living in the woods and providing for ourselves with whatever nature has to offer. I don’t think I’d feel the same way if we didn’t have the wood burning stove to keep us warm though. These fall mornings are very cold and it’s just going to get colder. But who need college and jobs and city life? No me. Give me a cabin, a wood burning stove to keep warm, and a hunting rifle and I will be happy for the rest of my life.
