Dad can be so stubborn.

I don’t think how our parents survive on their own! Like pretty much everyone their age, I believe they’re stuck in their ways plus they aren’t willing to evolve with the times.

It gets particularly frustrating when I try to explain something to them, but they instantly tune me out because they aren’t willing to learn something new.

My dad regularly prefers to tell me, “why repair what isn’t broken?” I understand his philosophy, but sometimes there’s a better choice available, you just have to try! The last fight I had with our dad was about his heating and A/C system. It started when he told me about his heating and A/C appointment and how the heating and A/C professional wasn’t able to replace their air filter because of the virus. I thought it was a little odd that he wouldn’t touch the air filter, even though I didn’t say anything about it. Instead, I asked Dad if I could help him order a new pack of air filters online; He quickly refused and told me that he’d go buy some from the hardware store at the end of the week. I tried explaining to him that I could order the exact air filters he used online plus they’d be shipped to his house in 3 days, but he wouldn’t even entertain the idea. This caused a fight between us, because I could not understand how stubborn he was being. I still don’t understand why he wouldn’t let me help him order the air filters online, knowing they’d be here quicker! It would save him time too!
