It was nearly midnight when I woke up in a full sweat.

There was no issue with the A/C unit; After the repair contractor installed a current thermostat, the cooling system came right on and freezing air began to pour out of the vents. I still had to pay an emergency repair fee and I had to pay for a current thermostat. Since I was going to get something new, I decided to go with a programmable thermostat with a touch screen display.
