It was nearly midnight when I woke up in a full sweat.
There wasn’t any cool air coming out of the air vents and it had to be at least 80° inside of the house. My sheets were soaked with sweat and my dogs were panting on the floor. I put on some clothes and I walked down the hall to the area where the thermostat is located. I looked at the thermostat and it was off. I changed the batteries and that did not help anything. I figured there must be a problem with the AC unit. I use an air conditioner repair service that is in the city. They offer great rates and excellent service. They have emergency services 24 hours a day. I called the emergency repair service at midnight. The place had a technician standing by and the guy was dispatched to my home. Within an hour, the emergency repair technician was diagnosing the problem. I was embarrassed to find out that the issue was the thermostat. The entire time I thought that it couldn’t be the thermostat because I changed the batteries. It was time for me to get a new machine. There was no issue with the AC unit. After the repair technician installed a new thermostat, the air conditioner came right on and cold air began to pour out of the vents. I still had to pay an emergency service fee and I had to pay for a new thermostat. Since I was going to get something new, I decided to go with a programmable thermostat with a touch screen display.
