Our local HVAC company was offering a free air quality test to all of their customers.
I told my husband about the testing and he looked a bit skeptical about having it done.
He told me that no one did anything for free unless they wanted something in return. He thought our air quality was just fine and he couldn’t figure out why we needed to have it tested. I walked away in a huff as he said he couldn’t be there at the time I had scheduled the air quality test. I really didn’t care if he was there or not. I knew most of the people from the HVAC company and I trusted them. I just wanted to know if there were some kind of hidden contaminants in my air that could be the cause of problems for our future health. The HVAC technician showed up a couple days later. I was out on the porch with my daughter while he did the test. He said that although my air quality looked pretty good, it never hurt to have an air purifier. With the rainy season coming soon, it brought a lot of mold spores into the house, which could be a reason for our seasonal allergies. I couldn’t afford an air purification system and I told him this right out. He did some checks to our HVAC system. He then went out to his truck and brought in an air filter. He said our system was new and it could handle having a HEPA air filter in the system. He told me they were a bit more expensive, but the HEPA air filter would do well to keep most of the allergens from getting into the house.
