I love fireplaces because they are so warm and cozy.
I especially love that my parents are finally using the fireplace in their home.
They have lived in that house for about 10 years, and up until now, their fireplace was merely there for decoration. I have been telling my dad that he doesn’t have to use his HVAC system all Winter, and the fireplace would be able to supplement the heat. I have no idea why, but he did not listen to my advice, but something changed and this Winter he finally decided to put it to use. Well, now that he is using the fireplace to heat his house, I made sure that he was fully aware of how to maintain it. I had to look it up on the internet because I don’t even have a fireplace in my house. Anyway, I found a few tips that would help to keep the fireplace working properly. They recommend cleaning the firebox with a wire brush once a month, and they also recommend using a broom or vacuum cleaner to remove debris from inside the chimney. Regular cleaning will prevent any debris from clogging up the fireplace, and it will help to expand the life of it as well. I must admit, it was nice that my dad decided to use his fireplace because it forced us to sit in the family room and tell old stories and bond with each other. Perhaps my next home that I purchase will have a fireplace as well, so that I can sit by it and bond with my future husband and kids.
