My girlfriend and I were meant to go out for dinner together on Monday night… Monday in the early morning, she called me at work to tell me that her parents were going to join us for dinner! I was genuinely shocked, because they were supposed to be in the islands.

I told my girlfriend that I had a rather tied up afternoon at my task and I was already behind a great deal.

I was uneasy that I wouldn’t finish the task in time for my reservations. I was working on a ductless A/C equipment upgrade and I still had various repair calls that afternoon. I told my girlfriend that I would try to come back to the beach house on time, but I couldn’t make any promises whatsoever. She understands that summer time is the busiest time of the year for a Heating as well as Air Conditioning repair business. Well, a single one of the repair calls turned out to be a relatively major repair. I had to drive back to the workshop to gather supplies and I didn’t even get back to the client until after 4pm. I realized that I wasn’t going to make it to dinner by 6pm, so I called my girlfriend to give her the updated news. She was incredibly mad when I told her that I wasn’t going to make it for dinner. I wasn’t making an attempt to avoid meeting her parents, but I certainly had to work. She told me that I need to put her at the top of my priority list. I realized she was uneasy about dinner, but I have to do a task and make money! This is my work and I cannot go back to the beach house early whenever I want.
