My dad was ready to give up

From a young age, I listened to my father’s tales of how his day was at work.

While most kids would listen to fairytales and other magical stories, most of my stories consisted of the interesting things he saw while he worked as a HVAC technician. His HVAC job at that time required quite a bit of travelling to rural areas, and he saw some interesting things. Eventually, my father quit being a HVAC tech and with my mother, created their own heating and cooling business. The same business he runs to this day. When he was in his 50s and having trouble keeping the business afloat, he asked me for help. At that time I was working as a HVAC professional at their business. My father told me that the HVAC company hadn’t been doing well in years, and that he had tried everything. He then told me he was about ready to give up. There was no way I was going to let all of his hard work go to waste and let this once booming business down. I quizzed my father on all of the things he tried, and quickly realized he hadn’t tried any form of online marketing! My dad was still in the mindset that people read the papers and listen to the radio to get their news. I told my father about the advantages of digital marketing, and he seemed hesitant, but he gave me the go ahead since we had nothing to lose. I contacted an online marketing business, and their first question they asked was about our website. Our website was pretty outdated, so I didn’t have much to say. So then the first goal was web building and web design, after that the next focus was going to be SEO.
