After a couple of weeks of hearing my little brother beg me to hire my nephew to come work at my HVAC company I have finally given in.
While it’s true that I am a big family man I still have my limits.
Sure my nephew Alex is a good kid with a big heart, but the best way to describe this kid is messy. From the time that he was a little boy until now in his adult years he has always found a way to mess things up regardless of the good intentions that he might have had. On the first day of him working at my HVAC store I gave Alex the simple task of doing some inventory on the HVAC systems. For some unknown reason this simple task managed to turn into Alex trying to disassemble a few different pieces of the new HVAC equipment in the hopes of being able to clean it better. As you might imagine I was extremely angry because this can void the warranty before the HVAC system is even sold to our customers. It also left me working a few extra hours doing my best to fix the mistakes that he had made to these expensive items. My nephew has only been working here for a few days and I already feel like I am at my wits end. Maybe I can just keep him on the payroll but have him do some paperwork in the breakroom far away from all of the expensive things. I don’t care that Alex is my own blood, my brother owes me big time for agreeing to this deal.
